Throughout my life, I have learned how crucial respect is – respect towards others people’s thoughts, their time, and their personalities. In my profession, I have the opportunity to listen to and respect the feelings and desires of my patients. As an orthodontist, I have a different perspective on aesthetics and function: what works well is generally beautiful as well. When putting together a treatment plan, I place special emphasis on function, durability, and aesthetics. When all of these align with the patient’s desires, I feel content.
During treatment, I enjoy communicating with my patients, providing insight into my work, explaining the reasons behind our actions and I found that helps to create a healthy doctor-patient relationship based on trust. Next to professionalism in medical interventions, I find that caring for patients with empathy is just as important. To be able to uphold and apply my principles in practice and keep in touch with advances in the dentistry world, I regularly participate in training courses.
